NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK

This national park is one of the largest in the world, covering an area of nearly 50000 square kilometres.

Accommodation is available on camp sites in 3 areas: Sesriem camp, Naukluft camp and Namib camps.

SESRIEM

Sesriem is ± 63 km from Sossusvlei.  The last 5 km to Sossusvlei require a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Open throughout the year.  Entrance for overnight and day visitors between sunrise and sunset.  Visit of Sesriem Canyon and Sossusvlei between sunrise and sunset only.

NAUKLUFT

The entrance to the Naukluft site is situatd ± 11 km west of Büllsport.

Olive trail

Naukluft Hiking Trail
120 km to be completed in 8 days or only 1st part in 4 days.  Open from 1 March to 3rd Friday in October.  No guide.  Start on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays of the first week of the month.  Camping & water facilities at stopover points.  Minimum participation of 3 persons, maximum of 12.   Participants must provide own food and equipment.
Naukluft 4x4 trail
73 km to be completed in 2 days in own vehicle.  Check-in at office before 14h00.  Overnight camp of open shelters, toilets, shower and water.   Start on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays of the first week of the month.  Equipment, food and firewood must be provided by participants.  Maximum of 4 vehicles (and 16 persons).

NAMIB
Northern part of Namib-Naukluft park, east of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.

Open throughout the year.

Permits (entrance fee) are required for travelling on indicated tourist roads and when camping.  Obtainable in offices in Windhoek, Swakopmund and  Sesriem.

Tinkas trail
A marked trail with start and end near the riverbed on the path to the campsite of Rock Arch (near Middle Tinkas).
Duration ± 5 hours.
Take enough water !
Free of charge.
Rock Art Trail
A marked trail with start and end north-east of Bloedkoppie (follow track to Tinkas).
Duration: ± 4-5 hours.
Take enough water !
Free of charge.

Camps at Mirabib, Homeb, Kriess-se-Rus, Vogelfederberg, Bloedkoppie, Tinkas, Ganab and Welwitschia.
Visitors must provide own equipment, food, water and fire wood.
No ablution facilities.
